Please consider this carefully. Bedrooms are shared by 6 people in bunk-style beds, and your housing is assigned only after you arrive.

Housing is assigned upon arrival in sponsor-approved housing in West Ocean City or Ocean City. It is dormitory style: 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, 6 people per bedroom, one bed per person (bunk bed style), a micro / fridge and a full bathroom.

Your landlord / employer will tell you the payment schedule directly. You walk, bike or ride share to work, and public transportation in Ocean City costs $4.00 per day. All transportation is your financial responsibility.

Deposit$400Paid 4 weeks in advance, with your first rental payment of $250. $200 is refundable after successful completion, damage inspection and positive rental standing; $50 is a non-refundable admin fee.

Plan your arrival

Fly to Salisbury (SBY)

The closest airport, with connecting flights via Charlotte or Philadelphia. Castle in the Sand is about 30 miles (48 km) away, roughly a 40-minute drive.

Uber, Lyft or taxi from SBY

There is no bus from the airport, so take a ride. Uber or Lyft costs roughly $55–$70 to Ocean City. Groups of 2–3 can share one car; with 3 big suitcases, order an XL car.

Fly to Baltimore (BWI)

A large airport with many more flights. Ocean City is about 145 miles (233 km) away, roughly 2.5–3 hours by car.

BayRunner Shuttle from BWI

A shared shuttle runs from BWI to West Ocean City every 2 hours during the day and takes about 3 hours. It costs about $127 for one person, about $200 for two and about $267 for three. Book ahead, then take a short Uber or taxi ride (roughly $15) to 37th Street.

Requirements & first days

Advanced English for interacting with customers, and a positive, friendly attitude.
Busy, fast-paced environment: you must be able to stand and walk for long periods, and understand and read English.
Early morning start at 6:30 am and knowledge of breakfast foods.
Hours and schedule vary each week. You must be available for holidays, weekdays and weekends (Saturday, Sunday) as scheduled.
Uniform: non-slip shoes, black or khaki pants / shorts and a uniform shirt ($26.00 per shirt).
Grooming: you must be presentable and clean.
About seven days after you check into the program you apply for a Social Security card. You can start working before you receive it. Be ready to show proof that you applied.
