Gardiner’s Bay Country Club is a scenic golf club established in 1896 and one of Long Island’s finest private, member-owned clubs. It has an 18-hole, par 70 course, a renowned Junior Golf School, a newly renovated clubhouse with fine and casual dining, and some of the best water views on the East End.

The club picks you up at JFK Airport and brings you to the island for free, and takes you back to JFK when the program ends. No ferry or bus planning on arrival day.
Position and compensation
Two roles: restaurant staff (runner / busser) and kitchen staff (dishwasher, prep). Minimum English level: Advanced for restaurant staff, Intermediate for kitchen staff. Role titles, pay rates and dates as provided by the host.
$18.00+ / hour
Help servers set up and reset tables, polish silverware and glasses, set up the dining room and events, run food out of the kitchen, clear plates, refill drinks and set up server stations.

Wash dishes, glasses, pots and kitchen equipment and keep the dish area running during service. Help the cooks with basic prep such as washing, peeling and cutting vegetables, keep the kitchen and storage areas clean, put away deliveries and follow food safety rules.

Free pick-up at the airport on arrival and a ride back at the end of the program.
The employer runs a shopping trip once every two weeks.
Meals are provided during your work shift.

You get to work on foot or by bike each day.

Living in the USA
Please consider this carefully. Shelter Island can only be reached by ferry, and bedrooms are shared by 2–4 people. Shops are limited, so the employer runs a shopping trip once every two weeks.
Housing is on the island, with 2–4 students in each bedroom. Wi-Fi, laundry and a full kitchen are available.
Rent is $450 per month per person and is deducted from your pay. There is no deposit. You walk or bike to work every day.
Location
Shelter Island is a tranquil, 8,000-acre island town at the eastern end of Long Island, New York. It lies between the North and South Forks and is accessible only by ferry, from Greenport to the north and North Haven (near Sag Harbor) to the south. It is the low-key alternative to its glitzy neighbors, with about 3,250 residents and no traffic lights.
Nearly one-third of the island is preserved by the Nature Conservancy at the Mashomack Preserve, with 11 miles of coastline and many hiking trails. Shelter Island Heights is a historic district known for its 19th-century Victorian cottages. Popular activities include kayaking, cycling, and visiting beaches such as Crescent Beach and Wades Beach.

How to get there
New York JFK is the main airport for flights from Europe. Shelter Island is about 95 miles (150 km) away, roughly 2.5 hours by car including the short ferry crossing.
The club picks you up at JFK for free and drives you to the island. Send your flight details early so the pick-up can be planned. The ride back to JFK at the end is free too.
If you arrive outside the pick-up plan: AirTrain to Jamaica (about $8.75), then the LIRR to Greenport with a change at Ronkonkoma (roughly $25–35, about 4 hours). From the station walk to the North Ferry, about $3 cash. Groups of 2–3 should travel together.
