About Location

Gatlinburg isa picturesque mountain resort town in eastern Tennessee, serves as the primary gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited national park in the United States. Nestled in a valley and surrounded by high ridges, it is known for its walkable downtown and blend of outdoor adventure and family-friendly entertainment.

Key Features & Attractions
  • The Parkway: The main downtown artery, filled with shops, local eateries, and "unusual museums" like Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, which houses over 10,000 sea creatures.
  • Mountain Vistas: Visitors can access sweeping views via the Gatlinburg Space Needle, the SkyLift Park (home to the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America), or the Anakeesta mountaintop park.
  • Arts & Culture: The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, an 8-mile loop featuring over 100 independent artisans, is the largest of its kind in North America.
  • Outdoor Adventure: Beyond world-class hiking, the area offers white-water rafting on the Pigeon River and Ober Mountain, Tennessee’s only ski resort.
  • Moonshine Heritage: The town is famous for its legal moonshine distilleries, such as Ole Smoky and Sugarlands, where visitors can sample traditional Appalachian spirits.
Local Atmosphere
Despite hosting over 11 million annual visitors, Gatlinburg maintains a small-town population of roughly 4,000 residents. It is the second most popular wedding destination in the U.S., trailing only Las Vegas. While nearby Pigeon Forge (home  to Dollywood) offers large-scale theme park thrills, Gatlinburg is generally preferred for its more intimate, nature-focused atmosphere and cozy mountain cabins
