General Information
Company - City of North Myrtle Beach; beach services division
Position - Beach Lifeguard -Under regular supervision, performs responsible lifesaving work in the Beach Services Division. Work involves using judgement in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations, exercising safety practices and procedures. Working in an outdoor beach environment in various weather conditions
including rain storms and high heat advisories. MUST BE PHYSICALLY FIT AND A STRONG SWIMMER.
Opportunity Details

Wage - $18.00 per hour + bonus (specified below)
Start dates - May 9 - June 8
End dates - August 30 - September 30
Average weekly hours - 45 - employer is overtime exempt

Housing and Transportation
Overview of housing situation - duplex style housing-3-4 students per room
Housing Fees - housing rent per week is $150
Additional Housing Fees - housing deposit $250, 2 weeks rent plus housing deposit due on arrival - $550 (you will not be able to move in without it)
Housing Deposit Refund Policy - $150 refunded when contract is fulfilled with homeowner. Must work your full program dates and stay in the same housing.
Transportation - housing is 1 mile from work; you can walk or ride a bicycle
Employment Conditions
Advanced English speaking skills for interacting with beach goers.
Paid training - You must start training on EITHER May 11, May 25; June 1; or June 8 - training is 10 days. MUST arrive 2 days in advance of training.
Bonus - $500 Bonus (must work a minimum of 65 days to qualify and Memorial
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions, will be exposed to heat and sun daily
Positive friendly, customer oriented attitude
Uniform – Uniforms will be provided at no cost and required to wear daily
Social Security Number - approximately seven days after you check into the program you will apply for a social security card, you will be able to work before you receive your card
Arrival Instructions
Fly into Myrtle Beach (MYR) Airport which is 2.2 miles away. Other nearby airports include Wilmington (ILM) (69.1 miles) and Charleston (CHS) (87.1 miles).
IMPORTANT DATES!!
You MUST arrive 2 days in advance of the below dates for paperwork processing
Lifeguard Academy/Training held on the below dates; you must attend one of the dates! Training is 7 days. If you arrive in the middle of training you will have to wait for the next available training week. During this time you are still responsible for rent and you cannot start working until you have completed training - May 11th, May 25th, June 1st, June 8th.

Weather - hot and humid during the day, warm and humid during the evening - temperatures range between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit (27°-32° C).
